4. Legal bases
Where data protection laws such as the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, the EU and UK GDPR, Canada's PIPEDA or Malaysia's PDPA apply, we rely on: your consent (for example, marketing emails and non-essential cookies); steps you ask us to take before a contract and performance of a contract (for example, responding to your enquiry or providing services); our legitimate interests in running and promoting our business, provided these do not override your rights; and legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing.
5. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We and our partners use them, together with similar technologies such as pixels and tags, for the purposes below.

Your choices: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on; manage ad preferences in your Meta ad settings, LinkedIn advertising settings and Google ad settings; and use industry opt-out tools such as Your Online Choices. Blocking some cookies may affect how the website works.
6. Advertising and lead forms on Meta and LinkedIn
We advertise on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram) and LinkedIn. When you interact with our ads or submit a lead form on those platforms:
- The platform shares with us the information you submit in the lead form, and we use it only to respond to your request and follow up about the relevant service, product or event.
- We may upload hashed (encrypted) contact lists to these platforms to show ads to existing contacts or similar audiences, or to exclude people who are already our clients. The platforms match the hashed data and do not give us information about other users.
- Meta and LinkedIn also collect data about your activity under their own privacy policies: the Meta Privacy Policy and the LinkedIn Privacy Policy.
7. Who we share data with
- Alif Group companies, where needed to handle your enquiry or deliver a service, for example audit, tax or advisory services.
- Service providers who act on our behalf: website hosting, email delivery, customer relationship and communication tools (including WhatsApp), webinar platforms (such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams), analytics and advertising providers, and AI providers that help generate chat assistant replies.
- Professional advisers and authorities where required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business reorganisation.
Our service providers may only use your data to provide services to us and must protect it.
8. International transfers
We operate across several countries and some service providers are located outside your country. Your data may therefore be transferred to and processed in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the European Union, the United States, Canada and Malaysia. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as contractual clauses approved by the relevant authorities.
9. How long we keep data
- Enquiries, leads and chat conversations: up to 3 years after our last contact, unless you become a client.
- Client records: for the duration of our relationship and as long as required by tax, accounting and legal obligations (typically 5 to 10 years).
- Webinar registrations: up to 3 years, to send you related content and future invitations unless you unsubscribe.
- Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe, after which we keep a record so we do not contact you again.
- Analytics data: according to the retention settings of the analytics provider, normally 14 months.
10. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, password protection and reputable hosting to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; ask us to delete your data; object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing; withdraw consent; receive your data in a portable format; and complain to a data protection authority, such as the UAE Data Office, the UK Information Commissioner's Office, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Department.
To exercise these rights, email info@aliftechs.com. We will respond within 30 days and may ask you to confirm your identity.
12. How to delete your data
You can ask us to delete the personal data we hold about you at any time, including data received through our Meta or LinkedIn advertisements:
- Email info@aliftechs.com with the subject "Data deletion request".
- Include the name and email address or phone number you used with us.
- We will confirm and delete your data within 30 days, except for information we must keep by law.
